Contract:- Fixed Term until 31st March 2009 in the first instance, with further extension pending

This is an opportunity to assist a Communities First team, and indeed the local community, by providing a comprehensive administrative and clerical service. You will need to be able to process and monitor financial information, and provide a frontline reception service in a busy working environment.

Along with computer literacy in the use of Windows based software and databases candidates must possess 4 GCSE’s (Grade A-C), or equivalent, which must include English Language or Welsh and Mathematics.

Car Sharing

Ystalyfera Communities First is interested in hearing from you on the subject of Car Sharing. As we all know, public transport for our community can be a little unreliable and developing a Car sharing scheme may provide some useful solutions for people. Not forgetting with Global warming becoming a real issue, car sharing can help cut down on the amount of air pollution and also help reduce your personal fuel costs by sharing the cost. Whether its a trip to go shopping or getting into Swansea and back for work.

On what days and times?

Car Sharing schemes have been shown to work well in other areas and there is no reason why we can't get a similar scheme operating here so why not get involved.

Art Exhibition Fri 14th Dec

Free Sessions at Ystalyfera Development Trust

On behalf of the Ystalyfera and Godre'r Graig Integrated Children's Centre, we have been asked to run the following free taster sessions. Please make sure you telephone the Ystalyfera Development Trust on 01639 843965 or call in to see us to book yourself a place.

The importance of play: An open play session for parents and children with 'Play Works'. Friday 9th November to Friday 16th November 10am to 12 noon.

Dealing with Depression: a supportive group for sufferers of depression and their families. Tuesday 13th November 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Creative Writing and Book Club: FREE CHILDCARE AVAILABLE. Get together and share a good book and explore your own creative writing ability. Each Tuesday from 20th November to 11th December 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Introduction to Counselling: If you've ever thought about becoming a counsellor, this session will help you decide if its for you. Friday 23rd November 10am to 12 noon.

Pamper Day: Looking after yourself inside and out. Starts with short look at basic first aid then offers manicures and massage after a healthy buffet. Friday 30th November 10am to 4pm (CHILDCARE PROVIDED).

Health Matters: Childhood illnesses are on the rise but most can be prevented. This session will help you understand the symptoms and what can be done to prevent them. Friday 7th December 10am to 12noon.

TinyTalk: Your baby can use sign language before they learn to speak. This introductory session will introduce you to this new idea which has been shown to give children a real head start. Friday 4th January 2008 11am to 12 noon.

Communicating with Teenagers (Part 1): Catch up with your kids and find out about the internet, picture messaging, blogs and more.

Communicating with teenagers (Part 2): Develop your skills in communication, conflict resolution, confidence and assertiveness and start to understand your teenagers better.

Future Mums and Dads: Especially for the new or soon to be new parents. Covers the essentials of basic newborn care.

Positive Parenting: A course to help you relax and deal with the pressures of being a parent.

Family First Aid: A course to help you deal with the many varied accidents (big and small) that can occur at home.

The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam

Can you circulate this around especially as Christmas is fast approaching:

This has been confirmed by Royal Mail. A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel > Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize . If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655.

Just wondering if any of you out there have any ideas for new clubs or socieities for Ystalyfera & Godre'r Graig?

If you do then let us know by posting a comment below. If someone posts a suggestion for a club and you would join that club if it existed then make sure you add a comment too so we know how many people might be interested if we set it up.

You supply the ideas and we at the Development Trust can provide the know how and the contacts to make your ideas become a reality.
